Check for an empty slot first.

Probably yes, but only if your laptop has one soldered stick and one open SO-DIMM slot. That’s common on ultrabooks and gaming laptops—manufacturers solder 16GB on the board and leave one slot for upgrades. Pop in another 16GB stick and you get 32GB total.

If both sticks are soldered (rare at 16GB, but possible on thin-and-lights), you’re stuck. Open Task Manager or System Information to see if there’s a “Slot 1 used, Slot 2 empty” situation. Or crack it open if you’re comfortable.

No slot? No upgrade. That’s the trade-off for thinness. Future you might want to check the spec sheet before buying.
