Clean your pool stairs and add grip.

Clean them weekly and install non-slip treads. The slipperiness comes from algae and biofilm that build up in warm, wet conditions. A quick scrub with a pool brush and an algae-killing cleaner (or diluted bleach) every week keeps the surface bare. But even clean fiberglass or concrete gets slick when wet, so you need traction.

Buy a roll of non-slip adhesive strips made for pool steps. They’re cheap, last a season or two, and you can replace them when they wear out. If you want something more permanent, get molded rubber treads that snap into place. Skip the anti-slip spray cans — they peel off in a month and make a mess.

It’s a cheap fix that prevents a hospital visit.
