Contoured wrist rests won't mess up your cursor.
No. Modern optical and laser mice track based on surface texture and relative movement, not the distance to the pad. A contoured pad that’s thicker under the wrist but flat under the mouse is fine.
The real issue is if the pad itself has bumps or slopes where the mouse sits. Most wrist-rest pads keep the mouse area perfectly flat—the contour only goes under your palm. If you’re buying one that’s one solid mound all the way up (rare), you’ll likely get tilt and inconsistent sensor lift-off.
For 99% of pads, the tracking is identical to a flat pad. Just make sure the sensor is clean and the surface isn’t shiny or reflective.
