Control pad for photo editing
Get a control pad.
Photo editing is all about fine adjustments — nudging a curve point, selecting a pixel edge, dodging a tiny highlight. A speed pad lets the mouse glide too freely, and you’ll overshoot your target constantly. A control pad gives you that nice bit of resistance so your movements stay deliberate.
Think of it like drawing: you wouldn’t use a marble on glass if you wanted to trace a precise line. Same logic applies. Low-friction pads are great for gaming or fast swipes across big screens, but for precise work you want the mouse to stop exactly where you put it.
Some people get away with a hybrid cloth pad that’s not too rough, but if I had to pick one for lightroom or photoshop, it’s control every time.
Your wrist will thank you, too.
