Cool and dry is all they need.

A cool, dry place — that’s it. Don’t overthink it.

Most pool chemicals are stable as long as they’re kept away from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight. A shelf in the garage, away from the water heater or any potential leaks, works fine. The key is keeping the lids tight—humidity is the enemy. If you live somewhere with high humidity, a sealed plastic bin with a silica pack doesn’t hurt.

Separate your oxidizers (chlorine, shock) from your acids. They can react if they mix, even as fumes. That’s the only real safety rule. Otherwise, just don’t let them freeze or sit on a concrete floor where moisture can wick in. They’ll hold potency for at least one season, usually longer.

You really don’t need to bring them inside or buy special storage. Your garage is built for this.
