Cool, dry, and separate is the rule.

Keep them cool, dry, and away from each other. That’s the whole deal.

Summer heat is the enemy of pool chemicals. Most degrade above 90°F and get dangerous when they get damp. A garage or shed out of direct sunlight works fine, but don’t stash them next to the water heater or in a spot that gets afternoon sun. Humidity is almost as bad as rain — avoid leaky roofs or damp concrete floors.

Separate your types. Chlorine products (tablets, shock) should never share a shelf with acids or algaecides. Store them in their original containers, lids tight, off the ground. And keep them away from gasoline, paint thinner, or anything flammable. A chemical fire in a pool shed is a bad way to ruin a summer.

If your bin gets hot enough that you can’t keep your hand on it, move the stash somewhere cooler. Your pool will thank you.
