Cool it before you seal it.

The fastest way to stop condensation from ruining your lunch is to let hot food cool before you close the lid.

The physics is simple: steam rises off hot food, hits the lid, turns back into water, and drips straight down onto whatever you wanted to stay crunchy. Letting the food sit out for even ten minutes before sealing cuts down on this a lot. If you absolutely need to pack it hot, crack the lid for the first little while or tuck a paper towel under the lid to catch the drips.

For cold lunches, the mushiness usually isn’t condensation — it’s the food itself. Wet lettuce, cut fruit, and big empty air pockets inside the container all add moisture. Dry your produce before packing, keep wet stuff like dressings in their own small container, and throw a paper towel in if you’re worried.

Crunchy lunch is a choice, not a gamble.
