The coolest lunch box for a high schooler is an insulated bag that doesn’t look like a lunch box.

Hard plastic lunch boxes with a handle on top are kid territory. High schoolers want stuff that reads as gear, not school supplies. So think insulated soft bags in neutral colors—Herschel, Carhartt, Yeti, MiiR, Stanley. They look like gym bags or camping equipment, which is exactly the vibe.

If they need compartments, buy a simple bento-style insert and drop it inside one of those bags. The container doesn’t matter. The bag is the flex.

The real rule: let them pick it. Style is self-selected. If you show up with a bag they didn’t choose, it’s wrong no matter how expensive it is.

Get something they’d carry even when it’s empty.
