Cool touch plugs are a safety upgrade — not a gimmick

They prevent two things: burns on your fingers and fires in your wall.

A “cool touch” plug uses heat-resistant materials and better internal contacts so the plug itself stays cooler under load. Regular plugs can get hot enough to melt plastic or burn you when you yank them out. Flame retardant means if something does go wrong — a short, an arc, a rodent-chewed cord — the plug won’t feed the fire.

Think of it like this: cheap plugs are an afterthought. Cool touch and flame retardant are how they should have been made all along.

It’s a few extra bucks for peace of mind you’ll never think about until you wish you had it.
