Cordura pads are more durable, and glide is actually better.
Yes, generally — but the glide feels different.
Traditional cloth pads (like a QcK) are soft and give you a lot of control, but they wear down over months. They pick up oils, humidity changes them, and the surface gets slow spots. Hybrid Cordura pads (Razer Strider, Cooler Master MP511, etc.) use a woven nylon fabric that’s basically the same material used for backpacks. It doesn’t fray, doesn’t absorb sweat, and the glide stays consistent basically forever.
Speed-wise, most Cordura pads are actually faster than traditional cloth, with a low static friction and a nice controlled dynamic friction. Some people find them a bit “scratchy” at first, but that wears in after a week. The big win is durability: you can wash them with soap and water and they come back like new. A cloth pad might need replacing every six months; a Cordura pad can last years.
If you want a pad that stays consistent for years, Cordura is the way to go.
