Cracked or peeling leather on your Coach strap means replace it

Yes, that strap is done when the leather cracks, peels, or the stitching starts unraveling near the hardware.

The most obvious sign is cracking — especially on the underside where it bends over your shoulder. Once the surface leather splits, the structural integrity goes fast. Same goes for peeling: if the coating is flaking off, it’s only going to get worse.

Check the stitching near the hooks and D-rings. Loose or broken threads mean the strap is holding on by luck. And if you see the edge coating chipping away, that’s another sign the leather is drying out and losing its strength.

Bottom line: don’t baby a strap that’s already failing. A new strap is way cheaper than replacing the whole bag after a drop.
