Did Pink Floyd drop Syd-era songs on their 1968 US tour?

The short answer: no. On their first US tour after Syd’s departure in 1968, Pink Floyd kept playing both “Astronomy Domine” and “Interstellar Overdrive” right alongside the new stuff from A Saucerful of Secrets. You’d get “Let There Be More Light” early in the set, then “Interstellar Overdrive” later. They weren’t trying to bury the Syd era yet — they still needed crowd-pleasers.

The real shift happened slowly. “Interstellar Overdrive” gradually disappeared from setlists around 1970, while “Astronomy Domine” hung on a little longer, getting a live revival in the early ’70s before finally being shelved. On that 1968 tour, though, the setlist was a straight mix: old space rock jams, new spacey songs, and no indication they were already writing Meddle.
