Don't assemble your lunch before you leave the house
The only reliable way to pack a burger or wrap that looks great at lunch is to bring the ingredients and put it together right before you eat.
Bit of a pain, I know. But here’s the bad news: bread and wraps are moisture sponges. Sauce, tomato, lettuce, even the steam from a hot patty — all of it gradually turns a good sandwich into a sad, soggy thing. So if you can bring the parts in a container and stack them at lunch, you win.
If you absolutely must pre-assemble, use the barrier trick. Put a big iceberg lettuce leaf between the bun and anything wet. For wraps, smear a layer of cream cheese or hummus across the tortilla first — it seals the whole thing. Also wrap it tightly in parchment paper, seam side down. That’s how delis keep wraps together and it actually looks intentional when you open it.
For burgers you’re reheating, always pack the patty separate from the bun. Reheat the meat, toast the bun in a pan if you can, then stack. Same rule: wet stuff goes in the middle, not on the bread.
It takes one extra container, but your lunch will look like it cost twelve dollars instead of a sad desk sandwich. Future You deserves better.
