Don’t daisy-chain power strips and extension cords.

Extension cords are for temporary use and already have a voltage drop. Plugging a power strip or surge protector into one adds resistance and increases the fire risk. Same thing the other way: a power strip is meant for a wall outlet, not an extension cord.
The only safe way to get more reach is a single, properly-rated extension cord of the right length and gauge. If you need more outlets, get a longer cord with a multi-outlet end — don’t stack them.
This is not where you save a few bucks.
