Don't expect faster boot times from more RAM.
Not much. Your boot time is driven by your storage—SSD speed matters way more than RAM capacity. Adding more RAM won’t make Windows load any faster.
What about system responsiveness after boot? That depends entirely on whether you’re running out of your current 16GB. If you’re a normal user—browser, Office, Spotify, some Slack—your system probably isn’t paging to disk much. More RAM will just sit there unused. You won’t notice a difference.
If you’re running multiple VMs, editing large video files, or keeping 75 Chrome tabs open, then yes, going from 16GB to 32GB can prevent swapping and make the system feel snappier. But that’s about avoiding slowdowns, not speeding things up.
The honest answer: most people don’t need 32GB. If you don’t know why you’d need it, you probably don’t.
Future You would rather spend that money on a faster SSD or a better monitor.
