Don't fight the pool float—roll it out, not untwist it
The best way to untangle a twisted pool float is to stop trying to untwist it and instead roll it out on a flat surface, letting the vinyl relax in the sun.
Nine times out of ten, that “knot” is just the way it got stuffed in the storage bin. The float is rolled over on itself, not actually knotted. Lay it flat on a driveway or deck, find where the material flips over, and roll the whole thing backward along its length. You’re reversing the roll, not pulling apart a tangle.
If it still fights you, get it warm. A few minutes in direct sunlight or a rinse with a hose makes the vinyl soft and cooperative. Warmth is the trick—cold plastic holds its twisted shape. Once it’s pliable, you can almost feel where it wants to straighten out.
Don’t yank at the ends. That’s how you tear a seam or stretch the material into a permanent warped spot. Slow, deliberate rolling, plus a little heat, gets it done.
Five minutes of patience beats a torn seam every time.
