Leaving your pool float in overnight is fine for one night, but it’s not something you want to do all summer.

Chlorine and UV light are the big enemies here. Vinyl floats break down faster when they’re left sitting in treated water under the sun day after day. On top of that, water gets trapped in the folds and seams, which is a perfect setup for mildew and that funky smell you’ll notice next time you blow it up.

Wind is the other wildcard. An overnight breeze can bounce your float around the pool, scratching it against the walls or sending it into the skimmer. If you leave it in and a storm rolls through, you might wake up to a popped float or a clogged filter.
