Don't swim with a pool cover on.

No. It’s dangerous for both kids and adults.

Pool covers aren’t designed for swimming—they’re designed to keep debris out and heat in. Stand on one and you’ll quickly find it’s a floating tarp, not a solid surface. It can wrap around you if you try to dive or even wade into it. Entanglement is a real drowning risk. Plus, many covers trap a layer of water on top that looks deep but is just a few inches—easy to misjudge and panic under.

Also, gas or air bubbles can form under a solar cover, which can rip or invert unpredictably. If you’re trying to swim with it on, you’re basically wrestling a giant, wet plastic bag. Not a good time.

If you want to swim, just take the cover off. It takes a minute. Future You won’t regret the extra thirty seconds.
