Don't use a squishy mousepad with a heavy mouse.
Yes, it can be a real problem. If you’re running a chunky gaming mouse or something with weights, the foam compresses unevenly under the weight. That tilts the sensor, changes its distance from the surface, and you get jittery cursor movement or missed swipes.
Lighter mice (under 80g or so) usually skate on top fine. But anything approaching 100g+ will dig in, especially on those “gel memory foam” pads. You don’t need rock-hard – just avoid the marshmallow-level stuff. A stiffer neoprene or a thin desk pad works for both comfort and accuracy.
Save the plush for your wrist rest. Your mouse sensor doesn’t appreciate a waterbed.
