Draw over permanent marker with a dry-erase marker

Drawing over permanent marker with a dry-erase marker is the safest trick, and it works most of the time.

Dry-erase markers contain a solvent that loosens permanent marker ink. Just scribble completely over the permanent marks, let it sit for a few seconds, then wipe with the eraser or a soft cloth. The whole mess comes off together.

If it’s really stubborn, use a little isopropyl alcohol on a soft cloth. That’s also safe for most whiteboard surfaces. What you want to avoid is abrasive scrubbers or harsh solvents like acetone — they’ll strip the coating and leave the board permanently stained.

Don’t scrub, just dissolve.
