Dressing at the bottom is the whole trick
The way to keep salad crisp and dressing separate without wasting space is to put the dressing at the bottom of a jar and pile the salad on top.
Mason jar, basically. Dressing goes in first, then the sturdy stuff (cherry tomatoes, cucumber, chickpeas, shredded carrots), then the leafy greens jammed in on top. When you’re ready to eat, shake it hard. The dressing coats everything, and the greens stayed dry until that moment.
No separate dressing container, no divider insert, no extra Tupperware taking up room. The jar is the entire system. The only thing that matters is layering: wet and heavy on the bottom, leafy and fragile on top. If you hate jars, a bowl with a snap-in insert works but eats space. The jar does not.
Crisp salad, zero soggy tears.
