Easy-access swim diapers work best
Swim diapers with snaps or pull-down sides are the way to go. Pull-ups get soggy and fall apart in water, and regular swim trunks aren’t meant to contain accidents.
Potty training at the beach is a mess no matter what. You need something that comes off fast when they say “I have to go” (which they will announce exactly 0.3 seconds before peeing) and can handle a leak without ruining everyone’s day. Look for reusable swim diapers with side snaps or elastic pull-downs. They dry quickly, block solids, and don’t balloon up like disposable diapers.
Rash guards with zip-off bottoms or elastic waist swim shorts over the diaper add sun protection without making bathroom trips a wrestling match. Skip anything with buttons or drawstrings.
Bring a waterproof wet bag for the diaper when they change. You’ll thank me later.
