Niagara-on-the-Lake and Lewiston: quiet escapes from the falls crowds

Niagara-on-the-Lake, about 20 minutes north of the falls on the Canadian side, offers a peaceful wine-country setting with boutique inns. On the U.S, side, Lewiston is about 10 minutes north with a small-town feel and far fewer crowds. Both are good options if you want to sleep somewhere quiet.
