Don't assume a falls-view hotel means a falls-view room.

Look for rooms labeled “Fallsview,” “Falls View,” or “Panoramic Falls View” — and don’t assume that just because the hotel is near the falls, your room has a view. Niagara hotels are masters of the bait-and-switch: standard rooms might face the parking lot, the highway, or another hotel. The premium for an actual falls-facing room can be steep (sometimes double), but if you’re only in town for one night and want the lights-on-the-water experience from your window, it’s the only way to be sure.
