Fast SSD swap is your best bet for soldered RAM.

Yes, a fast internal SSD for swap is the only real workaround. Cloud storage won’t help with RAM — it’s for files, not memory.

When you run out of RAM, your OS starts using the SSD as virtual memory (swap/page file). A good NVMe drive makes this less painful than the old spinning-disk days, but it’s still slower than real RAM. You’ll notice stuttering under heavy multitasking or large projects.

But it’s free (you already have the SSD) and better than nothing. Just make sure your drive has decent endurance (TBW rating) and leave some free space — 10–20% — for swap overhead.

Cloud storage? That’s for file syncing, not memory pressure. Don’t confuse the two.

Future You will still wish for more RAM, but this keeps the machine usable until you replace it.
