Foam in your pool means something is off with your chemistry.

Usually it’s too much organic gunk (lotions, oils, sweat) or high total dissolved solids. Normal pool water doesn’t foam like a bubble bath.

Check your chlorine level first—low sanitizer lets algae and bacteria party. Shock the pool hard. Then test calcium hardness and pH. Low calcium makes water “soft” and sudsy—add calcium increaser. If pH is high, bring it down with muriatic acid.

If that doesn’t fix it, you likely have a buildup of phosphates or dissolved solids. A phosphate remover works, but if TDS is really high, you might need to partially drain and refill. Not fun, but cheaper than fighting foam all summer.

Don’t bother with anti-foam products—they just mask the problem. Fix the chemistry and the foam goes away on its own.
