Fold it up when you're done.

A wall-mounted foldable desk is perfect for a small home office that’s only used occasionally. It gives you a proper workspace without eating up square footage the rest of the week.

The trick is treating it like a temporary setup — not a permanent desk that happens to fold. When you’re done, clear it off and fold it up. That means having a system. Keep a small caddy or drawer nearby for the stuff you use every time: laptop charger, mouse, notepad. When the desk goes up, the caddy goes on a shelf or in a closet.

You can mount it in a hallway, a closet, or even over a dresser if the room does double duty. Pair it with a folding chair that tucks away — don’t leave a bulky office chair parked in front of it. Cords are the one annoying part. Either keep everything battery-powered or run a short extension cord along the wall with a clip so you can unplug and stow the cord when the desk is folded.

I’ve seen people mount these inside a shallow closet with the door closed — then the office literally disappears. That’s the goal: zero footprint when you’re not working.

Just make sure you actually fold it up. That’s the whole point.
