Forget the dividers. Give chips their own fortress.

Yes, there are airtight snap-lock lunch boxes that keep chips crispy — but the trick isn’t the dividers, it’s a rigid inner container.

The “airtight snap-lock” part is fine: a good silicone gasket plus strong clips keeps air out, so chips stay stale-free. But crushing is a separate problem. Most built-in dividers are either too shallow, flexible, or don’t seal each compartment individually. So even in an airtight box, chips can slide around and break, or get exposed to air through the gaps between compartments.

The better solution is to skip the built-in dividers entirely. Get a lunch box with one large, open compartment that seals tightly, then put your chips in a rigid, airtight snack container inside that. A small snap-lock container or even a metal tin works. The outer box gives you room for everything else; the inner container protects chips from both air and physical crushing.

If you must use dividers, look for ones that are rigid and reach all the way to the lid — that pins chips in place. But those are rare and usually overpriced. Your chips will survive if you give them their own fortress.
