Four sticks are fine for gaming.

Not really.

Two sticks are easier on the memory controller, especially at high frequencies. Running four sticks makes it harder for the CPU to hit its rated XMP or EXPO speeds, and you might need to drop down a notch or loosen timings. But we’re talking about a tiny performance difference — maybe 1–3% in games. You won’t notice it.

If you already own four sticks, use them. If you’re buying new, two sticks is simpler and gives you better odds of hitting advertised speeds. But either way, your framerate is going to be fine.
