Freeze the drink, not the sandwich.

You can keep a kid’s lunch safe until noon without a single ice pack by using frozen food as the ice pack and starting everything cold.

The trick is to make the lunch itself do the cooling. Freeze a water bottle, juice box, yogurt tube, applesauce pouch, or grapes the night before. Pack them on top of the perishable stuff. By lunchtime they’re thawed enough to eat, and they’ve kept everything else in the safe zone the whole morning. Pop the fully packed lunch in the fridge overnight too, so nothing starts out warm.

The bag matters. A paper sack won’t hold cold for anything, but a decent insulated lunchbox with the frozen item on top easily gets you through the morning. Lean on room-temp-friendly foods too: PB&J, whole fruit, crackers, hard cheese. Save tuna salad and deli
