Gas heater is the only reliable option for cold climates.

Heat pumps sound efficient, but they stop working well once temps drop below 50°F—which is basically the whole season you’d actually want to swim. Solar covers help hold heat in but won’t create it. A gas heater fires up no matter how cold it is and gets the water hot fast.

Installation isn’t cheap, and running it hurts the wallet. But in a cold climate, every other option leaves you with a cold pool when you need it most.

Future you deserves a warm pool, not a complicated setup.
