Get 32GB if you can afford it.

Yes, 16GB is enough for most gaming and everyday use. But the price difference between a 16GB and 32GB kit at the same speed is usually only $40–$60. That’s a cheap upgrade that future-proofs your machine and saves you from having to sell and swap sticks later.

If you’re building a new PC or upgrading, 32GB is the new sweet spot. Games are starting to use more than 16GB (especially with background apps open). Heavy multitasking, virtual machines, or photo/video editing will eat 32GB for breakfast. Even if you don’t need it today, you will within a couple years.

The only exception: tight budget builds where that $50 goes toward a better GPU or faster storage. In that case, stick with 16GB and upgrade later. But if you have the room, just do it.

Future You deserves not having to hunt for the same kit three years from now.
