Get a 12-gauge cord for that space heater
Yes, a 12-gauge cord. Don’t skimp.
A 1500W space heater draws about 12.5 amps. At 50 feet, that voltage drop adds up. A 14-gauge cord works technically but runs warm and won’t deliver full power. A 12-gauge stays cool, gives you the heat you want, and won’t trip your breaker on a long cold night.
You can go up to 10-gauge if you’re paranoid or the run is longer. But 12 is the sweet spot for 50 feet and 1500W.
A 14-gauge might not melt, but it’s not where you save ten bucks.
