Get a 5mm mousepad if you have a bumpy desk or a wrist rest.
Usually. That thickness smooths out small imperfections well enough, and it’s thick enough to keep a wrist rest from feeling like you’re hovering over a cliff.
Most basic cloth pads are 2–3mm, which is fine on glass but won’t hide a dent or a seam. Go to 5mm and the foam absorbs the unevenness. Your mouse tracks clean, your wrist rest sits flush, and you don’t feel the desk through the pad. Brands like Glorious or SteelSeries (the QcK Heavy) do 5mm or 6mm without getting floppy.
Thicker than that (like 8mm) starts to feel spongy and your wrist rest can sink in weird. 5mm is the sweet spot for both problems.
Future you’s wrist will thank you.
