Get a 70-quart cooler.
Yes, that’s the sweet spot for a family of four on a three-day camping trip. A 50-quart will feel tight once you pack drinks, meat, dairy, and leftovers. A 100-quart is just heavy and unnecessary unless you’re feeding an army or bringing a whole brisket.
A 70-quart holds enough food and drinks for three days without forcing you to restock ice every morning. You can fit a couple gallons of milk, a bag of ice, burger meat, hot dogs, cheese, veggies, condiments, and still have room for beer or soda. If you use a separate cooler for drinks only (many people do), you could drop to a 50-quart for food and a smaller one for drinks.
Make sure it’s a rotomolded cooler (like a Yeti, RTIC, or similar) if you want ice to last. Cheap coolers lose ice in a day. For a weekend, a good one will hold ice for three days without a problem.
You don’t want to be the person begging for ice on Saturday morning.
