Get a bento box, not a lunch box

The best way to ditch single-use plastic bags and wraps is a lunch box with compartments, not a big empty container that forces you to wrap everything separately. If your lunch can sit in divided sections without touching, you don’t need bags or wraps at all.

Look for something with two or three removable compartments, or a bento-style box. That way, sandwiches, fruit, and dips stay apart and you can just close the lid. The material matters less than the seal, but I’d go with stainless steel or glass if you want it to last, or a good food-grade silicone one if you want to fold it up and carry it in your bag.

Don’t overthink it. The goal is to replace the habit of packing individual items in plastic. A box that can hold a whole meal without needing a single bag does that. If you eat something really saucy, just get one with leakproof sections or a small reusable silicone cup.

Future you — and the planet — will be happier.
