Get a cooler with non-slip feet

Yeti Tundra or RTIC. Both have grippy rubber feet that actually keep the cooler planted on a wet, rocking deck.

The problem with most coolers on a boat is they slide the second the boat tilts. Smooth plastic bottoms + water = hockey puck. Yeti and RTIC solved this with thick rubber feet that dig in. Not a gimmick—I’ve seen a Yeti stay put while taking a 15-degree heel. The cheaper alternative is to buy stick-on rubber feet for any cooler, but those eventually peel off. Spend the extra $50–100 and get it built in.
