Get a corner cabinet for your galley kitchen

In a small galley kitchen, a corner cabinet will store more than a floating shelf. It’s not even close.

The problem with a floating shelf in a corner is you basically get one shallow ledge. Corner cabinets, especially ones with a lazy Susan or pull-out drawers, can hold twice as much. Galley kitchens are all about using every inch — you don’t have the luxury of wasting the deepest spot in the room on a shelf that holds three jars.

Floating shelves are fine for display stuff you don’t need often. But if you’re storing actual kitchen items you reach for daily, a corner cabinet wins. The awkward corner space becomes usable instead of a dead zone.

I would only go floating shelf if you literally have no floor space for a cabinet base. Even then, consider a hanging corner cabinet with doors — same idea, better storage.
