A lid isn’t just for looks—it hides the mess and contains odors. If your hamper lives in a corner of the living room, you don’t want to see dirty socks every time you walk past. A nice woven basket with a snug lid does the job without screaming “laundry.”

Natural materials like seagrass, rattan, or canvas blend in. Plastic hampers look like bathroom accessories. They belong in a closet, not your living space. Fabric or woven options look like decor, not chores. Go with a neutral color—tan, white, charcoal. Patterns are risky.
