Get a divider, skip the rest.

The best cooler accessory is a simple divider. Everything else – baskets, cup holders, cutting boards – is usually overpriced and underperforms.

Cooler baskets sound handy but mostly get in the way. They take up space you could fill with ice and drinks. Cup holders? You’re at a picnic. Set your cup on the ground or the cooler lid. That’s fine.

Dividers are actually useful because they keep food separate from drinks, or dry items away from dripping meat. A good one costs about $15 and slides in without permanent changes. Beyond that, a mesh bag for produce or a reusable ice pack is smarter than any branded accessory.

Most cooler companies sell their own add-ons, but generic third-party ones (like the Igloo or Yeti style dividers) work just as well and cost half. Don’t overthink it.

Unless you’re tailgating for a week straight, you don’t need a cooler that doubles as a table.
