Get a lunch box with a snap-shut utensil compartment

The best lunch boxes for keeping utensils from sliding around are ones that store them in a separate snap-shut compartment on top, like the Monbento Original or the Bentgo Modern.

Open slots or stretchy loops only work until the food shifts and everything gets tossed around. The Monbento has a sealed tray that clicks onto the top of the box, so your fork stays exactly where you put it. Bentgo Modern does the same thing with a sliding lid that locks the utensils in.

If you already have a lunch bag you love, don’t buy a whole new box. Get a sturdy utensil roll or a small hard case with a zipper. That stops the sliding just as well and costs less.

Either way, the goal is the same: you open your lunch, and your fork is right there, not hiding under a piece of lettuce.
