Magnetic closures are the best choice for a kindergartner’s lunch box because a teacher can open and close them in under a second with one hand.

Teachers are wrangling 20 kids at once. They don’t have time to fiddle with stiff latches that need two hands and perfect alignment. The Yumbox is the standout here—it has a single magnetic snap that opens smoothly and stays shut in a backpack. It’s also compartmentalized, so you don’t need a bunch of separate containers.

Bentgo Kids is the popular one, but I’d skip it for this specific ask. Those two side latches are stiff enough that some kindergartners can’t open them on their own, and while a teacher can manage it, it’s an annoying extra step at lunch rush.
