Get a pop-up beach tent with UPF 50+.
Look for UPF 50+ fabric and a pop-up frame — that’s the combo that actually works. The UPF rating tells you how much UV it blocks (50+ blocks 98% of rays), and pop-ups are the only style you can realistically set up alone without swearing.
Avoid the cheap mesh-only canopies. They let UV through. And avoid the big pole-and-stake setups unless you bring a second person and twenty minutes. Pop-ups collapse into a circle, you toss them in the air, they snap open. Done.
The catch: pop-ups catch wind like a sail. So buy one with sand pockets or stakes, and place the opening away from the breeze. If it doesn’t have a way to anchor, it’s not worth buying.
Don’t overthink it — this isn’t the place to save twenty bucks.
