Get a Real Soup Thermos
A real soup thermos—not a plastic container—is the only leak-proof way to pack soup or stew.
Regular Tupperware-style lids are made for solids. Liquids find the tiny gap in the seal, especially when your bag tips sideways or the hot food creates a little pressure. That’s why you end up with broth sloshing through your backpack. A thermos seals with a gasket and a lid that actually compresses it, so liquid has nowhere to go.
Two quick tips: fill the thermos with boiling water, let it sit for a minute, dump it, then pour in your hot soup. That preheat keeps it hot until noon. And leave a little headroom at the top because steam pressure can push on the seal.
Don’t cheap out on this one. The $10 knockoffs leak and go cold. Zojirushi, Stanley, or the name-brand Thermos are proven and last years.
Your lunch bag will thank you.
