Get a thick mousepad — 5mm or more.
At least 5mm. For a noticeably uneven desk, go 7mm to 10mm.
The thick foam fills in dips and bumps better than a thin cloth or hard pad. But going too thick (over 10mm) can tilt your wrist up and cause strain — you don’t want to mouse on a ramp. 5-7mm is the sweet spot: enough to smooth things out without making your wrist bend.
Cheaper desk mats are often 2-3mm. They’ll lay flat but won’t hide an uneven surface. If your desk is genuinely warped, consider a full desk pad in 5mm. Or fix the desk — a shim under the leg is cheaper than a mousepad collection.
Future You’s wrist will thank you.
