Get a tool that lets you log a number and a note in the same block.
Most habit trackers screw this up. They make you choose: either you check a box or you type a number. Qualitative stuff like mood or energy level needs a place for words, not just a 1-10 slider. If you’re tracking both pages read and how you felt reading them, you want one entry per day that holds both.
So look for apps or notebooks that don’t force you into separate “tracker” and “journal” pages. In an app, that means customizable fields per entry. Day One works great for this because each entry is a text block with optional numeric fields. Tally is another option – lets you build a form with numbers, sliders, and notes all in one submission. For a paper notebook, a weekly spread with a column for the number and a row for notes per habit is your best bet. Bullet journals with a tracker layout and adjacent daily log will also work, but that’s more setup.
