Get a transparent optical compressor.

Go for a Ross-style or optical compressor, not a Dyna Comp.

Julia Jacklin’s leads have this lovely, natural ebb and flow. She picks hard for emphasis and backs off for breath, and the compressor just smooths the edges without squashing the life out of it. That’s not what a Dyna Comp does — that thing is a brick. You want something transparent.

Optical compressors (like the Mooer Yellow Comp or the Diamond Comp Jr) respond more gently and release naturally. Ross-style pedals (Wampler Ego, Boss CS-3 with some tweaking) also work because they blend the dry signal in. Either way, keep the ratio low and the attack slow.

Your dynamics will thank you.
