Get a vertical drying rack.
For a small kitchen, the most important feature in a collapsible drying rack is vertical storage — something that stacks plates upright or hangs cups underneath rather than spreading everything flat.
Counter space is your bottleneck. A traditional flat rack eats up half your counter, and it’s still only one layer deep. Vertical racks (like the over-the-sink type or tiered counter models) use height instead of footprint. You can fit a full load of dishes in maybe a third of the space.
Next thing: look for one that folds completely flat or stores inside a cabinet. Some “collapsible” racks still take up permanent real estate even when folded. If you can’t slide it into a drawer or stand it against the wall behind the sink, it’s not small-kitchen-friendly.
Also, pay attention to drying behavior. Silicone or coated metal rods are better than bare wire — bare metal scratches dishes and can rust. And make sure the drip tray is deep enough that water doesn’t spill onto the counter when you open the tap. That’s the kind of annoyance that makes you hate a rack.
Counter space is too valuable to waste on flat drying racks.
