Yes, get polarized. The glare off the water and wet sand will wreck your eyes and your vibe. Polarized cuts that reflection so you can actually see where you’re walking and what the waves are doing.

UV protection is non-negotiable — check for “UV400” on the label. That’s the real requirement. Then look for polycarbonate or Trivex lenses (impact resistant, light). Avoid glass lenses at the beach — sand and glass don’t mix, and one drop and they’re done.

Frame material matters less, but plastic or nylon frames are fine. Metal can get hot in the sun. If you’re swimming or active, get a strap or a pair that includes a retainer. Or just accept that you might lose them.
