Get the bento box.
Get a bento box (or any lunchbox with compartments) and the no-touch problem basically disappears. You stop fighting the rule and start working with it.
The no-touch thing is a normal picky-eater phase, and it’s not worth a daily battle. The fix is mechanical: food needs physical barriers. A bento box gives you that out of the box. If you don’t want to buy one, use silicone muffin cups or paper liners in a regular lunchbox. Even a folded piece of wax paper between foods works in a pinch.
Keep each compartment simple. One protein, one carb, one fruit or veg, one treat. And put anything wet — yogurt, dip, applesauce — in a separate small container, because leaked moisture is basically the crime scene your kid is trying to avoid.
If your kid is old enough, let them choose what goes in each section. Kids eat what they pack way more often than what you pack for them.
Compromise on the container, not the nutrition.
